Acupuncture at Move RX

Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin metallic needles into strategic point on your body. With historic origin China, it focused in promoting energy flow (Qi) through the body to improve overall health. The adaptation by Western medicine viewed nerves, muscles and connective tissues were activated by specific acupuncture points.

Benefits of Acupuncture

  • Treat general pain

  • Stimulate the central nervous system

  • Support your body’s natural healing abilities

  • Promotes physical and emotional well-being

  • Feel energized or relaxed immediately after your appointment

What Should I Expect From My Appointment?

If you're a new patient at Move RX, you'll begin by completing a questionnaire and health form. Your acupuncturist will then discuss any medical conditions and expectations to tailor the therapy session.

Once ready, you'll be led to a private room, where the acupuncturist will give you time to get comfortable. Techniques may vary, but the focus is on inserting needles in specific areas based on your needs. Depending on the treatment area, you may be unclothed, with the acupuncturist undraping and working on one section at a time while the rest remains covered. Additional forms of stimulation like heat, pressure, friction, suction, or electromagnetic impulses may be used.

After the session, the licensed acupuncturist will assist you in getting up slowly, providing privacy for you to dress if needed. Come prepared to relax and discover why Move RX offers top-notch acupuncture services.

 Questions We Often Hear

  • Often our patients feel their muscles are overexerted through their training. Regular acupuncture can support recovery, prevent injuries and benefit overall health.

  • Acupuncture in Kelowna allows us to see all types of conditions. From patients recovering from general muscle and joint pain to more severe chronic pain or digestive, emotional, gynecological, musculoskeletal, neurological, and respiratory conditions.

  • We do! We offer direct billing and accept ICBC claims. Find out more information here.

  • We want to ensure that you are comfortable. Some people choose to take off all their clothes, some keep on underwear and socks, while others will undress only the body parts that are being treated.

Acupuncture is designed to insert tiny needles directly into your skin. If you want to wear clothes, bring a clothing item you would feel comfortable in that still allows the acupuncturist to access specific body parts, such as a bathing suit or shorts and a tank top.

  • Most Canadian and BC health care benefit packages include special treatments as part of their coverage. To find out if you are covered or not, you should contact your insurance provider and ask.

  • Acupuncturists are only registered after successfully completing an approved program of study, successful completion of an approved examination and at least 500 hours of practice within two years prior to application for their licence.

MoveRX also believes in having our team continue their education, allowing our team members to specialize in areas they are interested in and passionate about.
